Autumn Rugby Internationals – England v South Africa
Kick-off: 5:40pm
England will face South Africa at Twickenham Stadium on Saturday 16th November. This will be the third of four autumn internationals to be played by England in 2024.
In their most recent encounter, England collapsed to an agonising 16-15 defeat to the Springboks during a World Cup semi-final in Paris last year.
Overall, England and South Africa have played each other on 46 occasions since their first meeting in 1906. The Springboks have won 28 matches, whilst England have won 16 matches. There have also been two drawn matches between the two sides.
Twickenham Stadium is the Home of England Rugby. Seating an impressive 82,000 spectators, Twickenham is the largest dedicated rugby union venue in the world.
It’s hard to believe that this historic venue began life as a humble cabbage patch, but that’s exactly what it was before the RFU purchased the land for just over £5,500 in 1907. The first game was played in 1909 – a battle between local sides Harlequins and Richmond.
